When it comes to photographing my children I DO. and OFTEN. But when a school asked me for a presentable photograph of my child I realized that most of them contain a goofy sister twisting his ears or a broody 6 year old looking past the lens into the future... When I picked them up from school it was show time. after 15 minutes of goofying around we have a winner:

This summer's heat proved to be challenging even for the most determined families, but with a little perseverance all is possible. Yulia wanted to do a lifestyle family shoot with her mum and grandchildren. After a quick discussion we decided that a location near her house would be ideal with small children and we decided on a Hampstead Heath park.

When I arrived in the afternoon the sun was high up and the heat was unbearable. So the first portion of the shoot we decided to do at home in the comfort of a shady livingroom with doors wide open. It was a great luck that the space had amazing light:

Once everyone was comfortable and kids got a bit retless inside the house we resumed with our original plan and went for a nice walk int he park:

Gone are the days of the stiff in studio portraits. Yulia approached me with a task of creating natural and lively portraits she could use for professional and private use. On a hot sunny day we ventured into Hampstead park to use greenery as a natural backdrop. These are the poses she's selected and this is the result.

It's a jungle, it's a zoo, it's a birthday party!

Here, I created a small recipe collage for the children's school project. Blinis are a favorite at our house at any time of year. I usually make a tall stack for Sunday breakfast, leftovers serve as lunch for the next couple of days. Kids love it with cream cheese and lox. I usually go for a nice raspberry jam. :)

AntiGravity Yoga with Maria Ferrer

A fun and interesting photo-session with AntiGravity and PowerYoga instructor Maria Ferrer at the VirginActive gym this past month. Our goal was to create images of Maria which would showcase her yoga skills and promote AntiGravity yoga.

The location was perfect as it had large windows allowing plenty of light which resulted in some beautifully back-lit shots. Hammocks were instrumental in creating an illusion of floating in the air. In the end we took advantage of the light and did a PowerYoga flow set.

More often than not I test my new equipment on my children. This was an impromptu session with my daughter, who by now is a professional quenia pig and manages to turn any serious endeavor for her mother into play time... and I can't say I mind. :)

Arbuzz Project - Chez Baba Yaga

This past Sunday children and their parents

got a special treat by coming to play with the infamous Baba Yaga.

Baba Yaga, in her yonder years was probably a fetching lady.

Well, may be her nose was a tad too large for her face or her hair was wildly unruly and her sense of style asked for a bit more refinement.

No one really can know what turned this amiable creature into what she is today. Yet here she came with songs and games to entertain this rowdy Halloween crowd.
